Product Introduction
Tongding Machinery's three-pass rotary sand dryer is a high-efficiency drying solution specifically engineered for dry mortar plant, designed to process wet sand and other granular materials with consistent performance, aggregates, and various granular materials. The system integrates three core stages: drying, dust collection, and screening, ensuring a complete and automated sand processing workflow.
In the drying stage, wet sand is fed from the moist-material bin through a disk feeder and wet sand belt conveyor into the rotary dryer, where it is heated by a gas combustion chamber. The dust collection system captures particles generated during drying, redirecting them to the dry sand belt conveyor. Finally, the dried material passes through a linear vibrating screen to separate different particle sizes according to customer requirements.
Technological Process
The complete sand drying process follows a continuous, automated workflow:
- Material Feeding: Materials are sent into the stock bin via belt conveyor or bucket elevator, then conveyed to the belt conveyor by a disk feeder. The material enters the feed pipe where the gradient is designed to be larger than the material's angle of repose, ensuring smooth flow into the dryer.
- Rotary Drying: The drum rotates at a slight angle to the horizontal. Materials enter from one side while the heat carrier follows simultaneously. The material passes through the inner cylinder, middle cylinder, and outer cylinder, eventually reaching the discharge port and finally the discharge silo.
- Dust Collection: After the heat carrier passes through the dryer, dust-laden air is captured by a cyclone dust collector. For applications requiring stricter emission control, additional bag filters or wet dust collectors can be installed before final discharge.
- Screening: The dried material is conveyed to a linear vibrating screen, which separates qualified finished products according to particle size specifications.


Working Principle
The triple pass rotary dryer features three nested drying zones within the inner, middle and outer cylinders, which form the complete rotating body. This design enables efficient thermal processing of materials with high moisture content.
The material enters through the inlet hopper and moves into the inner cylinder, where primary heating and moisture evaporation occur. The solid material is gradually broken down as it passes through the drying zones, and finally discharged through the outlet after completing the third drying stage. Hot air generated by the furnace flows through the inner cylinder, then passes through the middle and outer cylinders, maximizing heat utilization before being sent to the cyclone dust collector for emission treatment.
